I’m Alice,
Before you welcome me into your world, let me welcome you into mine.
The Journey Here
I’ve always been someone who follows the nudges — even when they don’t always make ‘sense’ to those around me. It’s those intuitive whispers that led me to teach in Japan after finishing a Commerce degree, to move to Australia in the middle of a pandemic, and eventually into the birth world. In between, I’ve worn many hats — but time and time again, I’ve found myself returning to roles centred around children and families. Whether working as a nanny, an au pair, an English teacher, or leading little ones in nature play — this thread has always been there. While it took some time for the role of a doula to come into my awareness, once it did, it felt like a natural and deeply aligned next step.
While I’ve always loved working with children, it’s really been in the past year — since beginning my doula studies — that I’ve become more intentional about how I show up in that space. I began to gently observe different family dynamics, and realised that the biggest gift we can offer a child is our presence. I started to understand just how important it is to be able to hold ourselves through big emotions, so that we can offer the same calm, steady support to the little ones in our care. These have been beautiful realisations — all learnings that have beautifully complemented my journey into the world of doula-ing.
Naming my business was something I sat on for a good six months. I wanted to land on something that felt right — something I loved. I was lucky enough to receive guidance from one of my lovely clients, a successful businesswoman herself, who encouraged me to include my name in the brand. While initially it wasn’t something I considered, I’m so glad I did. I wanted a name that spoke to the transition of birth — from maiden to mother, or mother to mother again — and the way women crave to be seen, held, and loved in that sacred in-between. That’s where I landed on Liminally Alice. Not only did it reflect that space in birth, but also the essence of my own life — a life shaped by many in-betweens, transitions, and evolving versions of myself.
I feel extremely privileged to have supported three very different births during my studies — a fast third-baby hospital birth, an elective caesarean, and a homebirth. Each one has offered me a unique window into the diversity of birth, and each family has shaped the doula I am becoming. Most recently, I stepped into a combined live-in au pair and doula role, which gave me an intimate view into the final weeks of pregnancy and the raw, tender transition into postpartum life. I know I won’t always live with my clients, but I carry forward the deeper trust, honest conversations, and everyday support that this experience allowed me to offer.
I truly believe each client is divinely brought into my world — that we find each other for a reason. It’s never just a service; it’s a sacred exchange. I need my clients just as much as they need me. Each one cracks my heart open a little more and makes my path ahead a little clearer.
Me in a snippet
﹅ I'm a total water baby and love being in and around the ocean. Nothing beats spending a morning attempting to surf — haha! I'm also a huge fan of the sun; I think I’m solar-charged.
﹅ I get such a kick out of making things from scratch. Right now, it’s homemade gelatin gummies, liver pâté, and bone broth. Sourdough is next on my list!
﹅ Dance found me a few years ago at a drum circle in Bondi — barefoot, outside, and totally sober. Since then, I’ve fallen in love with ecstatic dance and finding drum circles wherever I go.
﹅ Community is everything. I love connecting with others, whether through women's circles, community saunas, surf groups, or networking with fellow doulas for shared personal and professional growth.
﹅ I pride myself on living as low-tox as possible, but I also believe in leaving room to enjoy life. I’m deeply grateful to have the guidance of my Mumma, a naturopath, in this journey.
